Examining the knowledge of basic financial mathematics in high school

The purpose of this paper was to examine the knowledge of Basic Mathematics in High School. The methodology applied in the present study was Qualitative with a descriptive study. The sample was intentional formed by 32 students of the 1st high school of a public school in Belém do Pará in 2018. The results presented in this investigation demonstrate that no student answered the questions regarding: interest, rule of three simple and compound, percentage , population density and percentage ratio. The main difficulties commented by the students were: percentage, calculations and content different from work in the classroom.
