The purpose of this text is to reflect the different understandings and experiences about playing from the curricular internship in Early Childhood Education. We realized an initial discussion about the internship as a formative space and the contemporary challenges. Then, we emphasized the importance of playing as an essential category in the initial teachers training and how this specific training can reverberate in pedagogical practices. We demarcated our position in relation to the CNE's opinion on this topic in the pandemic context. Based on the discussions presented in this article, we affirm the importance of emphasizing playing as a central aspect in the initial teachers training.
