Abstract

The present study aims to present the research titled "the appropriation of the written culture in the education of the small child: challenges and possibilities of a teaching practice" developed in the master's degree in Social education, Campus Pantanal at the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul. The study sought to analyze the challenges and opportunities present in the teaching practice to check the process of appropriation of the writing culture of a group of children and 4 years from the assumptions of historical- Cultural theory. The methodology provided information on action-research of their own practice in the early childhood education class in which one of the authors was a teacher. The results showed that the child exposed to written culture, learning from your interests and activities, intentionally planned by teacher, contributed to the children's immersion in practices that the written culture approached that favored the writing learning how your social function.
